Greetings Lurie College Community,
As we move into Spring Break, we know that some of you will be taking a well-earned pause while others continue working on campus. No matter your plans, we appreciate your dedication and all that you do for our students and community.
Looking ahead, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) site visit is quickly approaching on April 9-11, 2025. This visit is an important opportunity for our campus to showcase progress and engage in discussions about continuous improvement. Open forums have been scheduled for faculty and staff, and we encourage you to attend in person or via Zoom.
With the WASC Exit Presentation now starting at 10 AM on April 11, we are postponing the Spring Forum to a later date. We are currently conceptualizing a more casual gathering near the end of the semester that will be decided by planning committee—stay tuned for details.
A big thank you to everyone who supported SJSU’s 1857 Minutes of Giving through donations or by spreading the word. Thanks to 108 generous donors, our college raised $18,105 in support of eight impactful projects. Your generosity truly makes a difference, and we are so grateful for your support.
Wishing you all a restful and productive spring season!

"I Needed Paris" follows nine middle school photography students from the Gordon Parks Academy in Wichita. The students reimagine how Gordon Parks photographed fashions, portraits, and street photography during his 1950-1952 tenure in Paris as a photographer in the LIFE magazine bureau. This film explores themes of educational craft, pedagogy, and ethnic studies as young students learn through photography in the streets of Paris.
Screening on April 10, 2025 in the MLK Library, RM 213 @ 1PM-3PM

LCOE STUDENT HARDSHIP FUND
The Connie L. Lurie College of Education makes funds available to support students who have experienced an unforeseen financial hardship that will prevent them from continuing their enrollment. Most often cited are the challenges of meeting the costs of living (transportation, rent, and other expenses) during the unpaid student teaching/ counseling requirements for becoming an educator.
"I am very grateful to have received the Hardship Grant! Because of the funding, the cost of gas for my internship has been covered which is really helpful for me. I'm really grateful that the Hardship Grant exists because it increases the equity for students who are financially insecure. Thank you so much to the committee and donors!"
