Dear Spartan Community,

The month of May presents us with an opportunity to honor the experiences and diverse contributions of our Jewish students, faculty, and staff as we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month.

Yesterday and today are of particular importance, as we commemorate Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day — a time when we remember the victims and honor the survivors of one of the darkest periods in history. During a time where many are suffering around the world, this important commemoration serves as a reminder that we must lead with empathy and compassion for one another.

As we mark Yom HaShoah and celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month, let us reaffirm our commitment to our institutional values, namely our call to be inclusive and equity-minded. As a campus community, we must honor the dignity and resilience of all people and engage in the pursuit to eradicate disparities and advance justice that encompasses all axes of difference, backgrounds, and identities and promotes a sense of belonging and empowerment in our community.

Sincerely,
